Ethylen im Aufschwung – Ceresana Research veröffentlicht neue Marktstudie

Ethylen wird für PET-Flaschen und Verpackungsfolien, Textilfasern und Wasserrohre gebraucht: Die meistproduzierte Grundchemikalie der Petrochemie dient vor allem der Kunststoffproduktion. Dass sich die Ethylen-Hersteller von dem massiven Einbruch des Jahres 2009 wieder erholen, zeigt eine neue Studie des Marktforschungsinstituts Ceresana Research. „Bis zum Jahr 2017 wird der weltweite Ethylen-Umsatz das Niveau des bisherigen Rekordjahres 2008 wieder erreichen, das heißt, mehr als 160 Milliarden US-Dollar“, erläutert Oliver Kutsch, Geschäftsführer von Ceresana. „Die Ethylen-Preise haben sich bereits 2010 erholt, nachdem sie im Jahr 2009 im Durchschnitt um 35 Prozent gesunken sind.“ Vorreiter China Dominiert wird der Weltmarkt für Ethylen auch in Zukunft von der Region Asien-Pazifik, auf die mehr als ein Drittel der gesamten Nachfrage entfällt.
