mobieTV and Vodafone provide first mobile video-sharing service in the Czech Republic

*.* mobieTV GmbH (Germany) and Vodafone Czech Republic a.s.
(CZ) today announced the successful deployment of Europe’s first mobile video-sharing
service with user-generated content in Vodafone's wireless network.
The service is called MoVidi and enhances Vodafone’s ‘Yourmode’ program. MoVidi enables
all users of multimedia phones to post and watch video clips with their mobile phones without
the need to install special software or tools. The new mobile interactive entertainment
platform serves approximately 99% of the Czech population on the 2.5G (GPRS/EDGE)
network as the user experience is tailored to lower-end phones as well as higher-end
phones.
The MoVidi concept enables Vodafone to increase data traffic with a sticky easy-to-use
service: Everybody with a multimedia phone can upload his or her own videos and have
viewers all around the country share their life. Furthermore, the users have the opportunity to
discuss the ‘Vidis’, forward them to their friends or rate them. Presently 6 categories are
offered (Funny, Party, On the Road, Love, Music, Games) with a “Best Of The Day” and a
“Last Uploaded Section” on the start-page.
The strong uptake in the first weeks shows that a new video community has grown and that
the mobile market is ready for user-generated interactive entertainment and mobile
marketing.
