27 passionate runners from Europe and Taiwan are ready to showcase perseverance and unity at the historic race in Germany’s capital

Munich/Taipei, 12 September 2023 - Taiwan Excellence, an initiative by the Taiwan Bureau of Foreign Trade (BOFT) and the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), is set to announce its selected marathon team for the 2023 BMW BERLIN-MARATHON. As a testament to its commitment to global collaboration in business and sports, the team will be introduced a day before the race, showcasing the spirit of unity as they embark on the marathon across Berlin's iconic landmarks.

Event Highlights

• Team Presentation: Taiwan Excellence will introduce a diverse group of 27 amateur runners from Europe and Taiwan, selected from countries like Spain, Germany, Poland, and Taiwan. This team, the result of Taiwan Excellence's summer pan-European campaign, epitomizes the collective spirit of endurance and shared aspirations.

• Venue & Time: The event is slated for Saturday, 23 September, at 12:30 PM, taking place at the Marathon Expo within the historic Tempelhof Airport.

• Discussion Panel: Alongside the team presentation, there will be a panel discussion featuring representatives from both Taiwan and the BMW Berlin Marathon, shedding light on the collaborative goals of the Taiwanese-European community.

• Entertainment and Food: Attendees can expect an array of musical and dance performances, punctuated by culinary delights, adding vibrancy to the press event.

• Speakers: Notable speakers include Brian Lee, TAITRA's Executive Director Strategic Marketing; Prof. Dr. Jhy-Wey Shieh, Taiwan's Representative in Germany; and Jürgen Lock, CEO of SCC Events and the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON.

Brian Lee highlighted the integral role of the collaborative spirit behind Team Taiwan Excellence's marathon campaign, stating, "The enthusiastic response from Europe underscores the binding power of sports." The team's motto, "Run with Taiwan. Strive for Excellence," embodies the core tenets of Taiwan Excellence. Offering guidance in their marathon preparation is Robin Siegert, editor-in-chief of Germany's second-largest running magazine.
