Berlin. Delegates from the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan visited Berlin to undertake a study in healthcare in waste management. Financed by the World Health Organization (WHO) / Regional Office Europe and arranged by ETLog Health GmbH.

The focus of the training was on healthcare systems specifically waste management. The study programme was developed so that delegates received a comprehensive training including legislation, development and management of waste in hospitals and disposal.

The programme was supported by hospitals, ministries and institution in the Berlin area. Support was also provided by the Bundesministerium für Gesundheit [German Federal Ministry of Health], the Charité, the Märkische Entsorgungsanlagen- Betriebsgesellschaft mbH (MEAB), the Robert Koch-Institute (RKI), the Sonderabfallgesellschaft Brandenburg/Berlin mbH (SBB), the Umweltbundesamt [German Federal Environmental Agency] and the Unfallkrankenhaus Berlin [Trauma Center Berlin].

Through these meetings the delegates made useful contacts and were able to meet with experts from the areas of facility management, waste disposal, environmental management and human medicine.
