Writing suffices – digital pens transfer data into the database

Lübeck/Schwerte, 31 August 2009

It ´s now only one small step from the emergency call protocol to the analysis of the data: Diagramm Halbach and Amedon are now extending their long-standing co-operation in the pharmaceutical field to include the health care sector.
With the combination of dotforms digital pen technology and a web-based system solution the collection of patient data from the initial form to its subsequent analysis can now be completely automated.

With the dotforms data management and analysis system (dotforms DMAS) the two organisations offer data management systems based on individual forms which meet the needs of both physicians and users as well as complying with legal requirements.

The objective is to offer a user-friendly fully comprehensive solution which not only meets simple but also complex requirements and also develops according to the customer´s needs. Such a system encourages user acceptance, improves quality of data and provides a basis for the optimization of workflows.

With dotforms technology emergency call protocols, emergency admission protocols, material consumption etc. are documented by hand on the respective forms in the normal way. Using digital pens on digital paper allows the electronic recording of data to occur at the moment when the form is filled in. The paper becomes the input mask. The existing workflow remains unchanged and uninterrupted. Recording data separately is not necessary. A system of intelligent recognition of handwriting and verification allows raw data from the digital pen to quickly and easily become analysable electronic information which is essential for invoicing, statistics, benchmarking and quality assurance.
Data is transferred automatically via compatible interfaces into the dotforms data management and analysis system where it is made available for invoicing and quality assurance purposes. Sending, verification, analysis and provision of data occurs automatically. The fully comprehensive system provides a complete documentation of workflow and of patients from beginning to end.
